Prof. Mohamad Sawan
Prof. Mohamad Sawan is an internationally renowned scientist in smart biomedical devices. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (FCAE), the Engineering Institute of Canada (FEIC), the Royal Society of Canada (FRSC), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (FAAIA). He has made major contributions to implantable and wearable medical devices based on intelligent microsystems.
Prof. Sawan received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Université de Sherbrooke in 1990 and completed postdoctoral research at McGill University in 1991. From 1991 to 2018, he was a professor at Polytechnique Montréal, and from 2001 to 2015 he held the Canada Research Chair in Smart Medical Devices. He co-founded IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Circuits and Systems and served as its Editor-in-Chief from 2016 to 2019.
Prof. Sawan joined Westlake University in 2018 and is a Chair Professor in the School of Engineering. He founded CenBRAIN Neurotech, a Center of Excellence in Biomedical Research, and the Integrated-on-Chips Brain-Computer Interfaces Zhejiang Engineering Research Center.
